Department of Publishing

Established in 2019, the Department of Publishing at TULTECH is at the forefront of open access publishing, fostering academic communities worldwide. Our mission is to facilitate open scientific exchange across all disciplines, ensuring that the latest research is freely accessible to all. With a commitment to transparency and accessibility, all content published by TULTECH is distributed under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY).

As of 2024, TULTECH proudly publishes four journals, each specializing in distinct fields. We are dedicated to expanding the coverage of our publications across leading academic databases and scope-specific platforms, enhancing visibility for our authors and their research. Additionally, TULTECH journals are digitally preserved by the Estonian National Library and CLOCKSS, ensuring long-term accessibility and archival of published content.

In line with our commitment to ethical publishing practices, TULTECH is in the process of becoming a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), reinforcing our dedication to upholding rigorous peer review and ethical standards. Our participation in initiatives such as the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA) reflects our commitment to fair and transparent evaluation of research quality, moving away from reliance on journal-based metrics.

At the heart of the Department of Publishing are our core values, rooted in open science principles and aimed at advancing scientific knowledge worldwide. Our values include:

  • Open Access: All content is freely available under a Creative Commons License, promoting unrestricted access to scientific research.
  • Timeliness and Efficiency: We prioritize prompt editorial decisions and swift publication processes to ensure timely dissemination of research findings.
  • Simplicity: Our user-friendly tools and services streamline the editorial process, enhancing efficiency for authors and reviewers.
  • High-Quality Service: We offer comprehensive support to scholars, providing various publication options and platforms to maximize the impact of their research.
  • Flexibility: We adapt to evolving research needs by continually developing new tools and services based on feedback from our community.
  • Sustainability: We are committed to the long-term preservation of published papers and the future of science through strategic partnerships and initiatives.

By upholding these values and principles, the Department of Publishing at TULTECH remains dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge and promoting open science practices globally.
