Department of Publishing

Established in 2019, the Department of Publishing at TULTECH is at the forefront of open access publishing, fostering academic communities worldwide. Our mission is to facilitate open scientific exchange across all disciplines, ensuring that the latest research is freely accessible to all. With a commitment to transparency and accessibility, all content published by TULTECH is distributed under a Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY).

As of 2025, TULTECH proudly publishes four scholarly journals, each specializing in distinct academic fields. We are dedicated to expanding the reach and visibility of our publications through indexing in leading academic databases and discipline-specific platforms. All TULTECH journals are digitally preserved by the Estonian National Library and CLOCKSS, ensuring long-term access and archival preservation.

Book Publishing and Open Calls

In addition to journal publishing, the Department of Publishing now offers a dedicated book publishing service, supporting both monographs and edited volumes. We welcome proposals for:

  • Academic monographs

  • Thematic edited volumes (chapter books)

  • Conference-based collections

We are currently accepting open chapter proposals for upcoming edited books across various disciplines. Interested editors and contributors are encouraged to submit their proposals in line with our open science and peer-reviewed standards.

All books published by TULTECH:

  • Are available in full digital format (PDF and XML)

  • Are assigned ISBNs and distributed under CC BY

  • Include metadata in ONIX or MARC formats, with appropriate BIC/BISAC/THEMA subject classifications

  • Are published with English-language metadata (title and abstract), while full text may be in any language

  • Are eligible for submission to Scopus indexing as part of our book publishing program

We actively maintain compliance with Scopus technical and quality criteria for academic books. For detailed information on the Scopus book selection process, please refer to the official Scopus Book Suggestion Policy.

Commitment to Ethical Publishing

TULTECH adheres to the highest standards of scholarly publishing ethics. We are actively pursuing membership in the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), reinforcing our commitment to responsible editorial practices and rigorous peer review. Our alignment with initiatives such as the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA) further reflects our dedication to evaluating research based on quality and impact, rather than journal metrics alone.

Our Core Values

At the heart of the Department of Publishing are our enduring principles:

  • Open Access: All journal content is freely accessible under a Creative Commons license, eliminating barriers to knowledge.

  • Timeliness and Efficiency: We prioritize prompt editorial decisions and rapid publication to accelerate the dissemination of research.

  • Simplicity: Our streamlined digital tools ease the submission and review process for authors and editors.

  • High-Quality Service: We support researchers at every step, from submission to dissemination, to maximize scholarly impact.

  • Flexibility: We adapt to evolving academic needs and community feedback by continuously improving our platforms and services.

  • Sustainability: Through strategic partnerships and preservation initiatives, we ensure the enduring availability of published content.
